How many lumens should an LED flush mount ceiling light have?
Plan about 10 to 20 lumens per square foot of floor for general light. A 120 square foot bedroom needs roughly 1,200 to 2,400 lumens. A 200 square foot room needs roughly 2,000 to 4,000. This is common retail lighting guidance, not a measurement of one 51lighting fixture. Read listed lumens. Watts do not tell you brightness.
| Room | Example area | General-light target |
|---|---|---|
| Small bedroom or hall | 80 sq ft | About 800 to 1,600 lumens |
| Typical bedroom | 120 to 150 sq ft | About 1,200 to 3,000 lumens |
| Living room | 200 sq ft | About 2,000 to 4,000 lumens |
- Raindrop flush mount LED ceiling light
- Mini crystal LED ceiling light for a hallway
- Bowl flush mount crystal ceiling fixture
- Ceiling lights
Is 800 lumens enough?
For a small hall or as fill light, often yes. For a full bedroom, usually no, unless other lamps make up the difference.
