Why is my flush mount ceiling light fixture flickering?
A flush mount ceiling light flickers because of a dimmer that does not match the lamp, a loose splice, or a failing bulb or driver. Shut the breaker off if the canopy is hot or smells.
- If it is steady at full brightness and flickers only when dimmed, change the dimmer or use an on/off switch.
- Reseat the bulb, or use an enclosed-rated LED if the shade is closed.
- With power off, tighten the wire connectors.
- If a sealed fixture still flickers on a plain switch, replace it.
