Why is my LED flush mount ceiling light not as bright as expected?
The flush mount looks dim because its lumen rating is too small for the room, a dimmer is holding it down, or the cover is cutting the light. Compare listed lumens with about 10 to 20 lumens per square foot. A 1,000-lumen fixture in a 200 square foot room will look dim. That guide is common retail practice, not a test of one SKU.
- Read the listed lumens against the floor area.
- Put the dimmer at full.
- Clean the shade. Yellowed plastic eats output.
- 2700K looks softer than 4000K at the same lumens.
- Add a second light if one fixture cannot reach the target.
