Are LED ceiling light fixtures better than traditional fixtures?
LED ceiling lights are the better everyday choice when you want lower power use, less heat, and a long rated life. A socket fixture is the better choice when you want to change the lamp later. A typical 800-lumen LED is about 8 to 12 watts. A similar incandescent is about 60 watts. That comparison is standard lamp guidance, not a test of one 51lighting SKU.
| Integrated LED | Socket fixture | |
|---|---|---|
| Service | A failed driver usually means a new fixture | You replace the bulb |
| Color | Fixed unless the driver offers selectable white | You choose the bulb |
| Heat | Lower at the shade for the same lumens | Incandescent and halogen run hot |

Do LEDs always last 25 years?
No. Makers often rate integrated LEDs around 25,000 to 50,000 hours. Heat, a bad dimmer, and driver failure shorten that.
