Can I install a flush mount ceiling light fixture on an 8-foot ceiling?

Yes. An 8-foot ceiling is the normal place for a flush mount ceiling light. The fixture sits on the box and adds only a few inches. Skip a long pendant in the walking path. The box must be sound and rated for the fixture weight.

1. Turn the breaker off and confirm the wires are dead.
2. Use the flush canopy.
3. Connect ground to ground, white to white, and the fixture hot to the switched hot.
4. Close the canopy flat on the ceiling.
